For A New Paradigm On African Migrations

Abstract
When discussing African migration, the first images that come to mind are those of irregular migrants crossing the Mediterranean in makeshift boats. However, these images do not reflect the broader and more complex reality of these migrations; they are rather the product of a dominant Western-centric narrative.
Based on a specific report from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), we will present data in this contribution that disproves the myths of this dominant Western narrative and then expose elements for the construction and consolidation of a new African paradigm on African migrations.
