Publishing Ethics and Misconduct Policy
Turath Journal, published by the Centre of Research in Social and Cultural Anthropology (CRASC), Algeria, is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of publishing ethics and integrity. Turath Journal adheres to the principles of transparency, honesty, and fairness in scholarly publishing. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to follow these guidelines to ensure the integrity of the publication process.
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
-
Originality and Plagiarism:
Authors must ensure that their work is original and appropriately cite all sources when using the ideas or work of others. Any form of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited. -
Data and Results:
Authors should present their research findings accurately and provide sufficient detail for replication, where applicable. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data and results is unethical and unacceptable. -
Authorship:
All individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be listed as co-authors. Those who have contributed meaningfully but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately. -
Multiple Submissions and Redundant Publications:
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously or engage in redundant publication. Any related publications or manuscripts under consideration must be disclosed during submission. -
Conflict of Interest:
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their research or its interpretation. All potential conflicts of interest must be acknowledged in the manuscript.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
-
Confidentiality:
Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents. They must not share the manuscript or its contents without explicit permission from the journal. -
Objectivity and Constructive Feedback:
Reviewers must provide objective, unbiased, and constructive feedback to improve the manuscript. Personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate. -
Conflict of Interest:
Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may affect their impartiality. If a conflict of interest exists, they should recuse themselves from the review process.
Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
-
Editorial Decision:
Editors are responsible for making fair and unbiased decisions on manuscripts based on their scientific merit, originality, and relevance. Decisions should not be influenced by the authors' race, gender, ethnicity, or institutional affiliation. -
Confidentiality:
Editors and editorial staff must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all manuscript-related information and ensure reviewers uphold the same standard. -
Peer Review Process:
TURATH Journal follows a double-blind peer review process, ensuring that both the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process. Editors are responsible for selecting qualified reviewers, managing the review process, and making decisions based on reviewers' feedback. -
Handling Misconduct:
Editors must investigate allegations of misconduct or unethical behaviour and take appropriate action in consultation with the editorial board. This includes addressing concerns related to plagiarism, data fabrication, or conflicts of interest.
Handling Misconduct and Allegations
-
Misconduct:
Turath Journal takes allegations of misconduct seriously. Proven cases of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, redundant publication, or other unethical practices will result in appropriate actions, including retraction of published work. -
Reporting Misconduct:
Authors, reviewers, or readers who suspect misconduct or unethical behaviour in any published work should promptly contact the journal's editorial office. All allegations will be treated confidentially, and appropriate measures will be taken to address the issue.
